Share your experiences in the OHRC’s Indigenous-specific Discrimination in Healthcare Survey

The Ontario Human Rights Commission (OHRC), launched an online survey to gather information about lived experiences of First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and urban Indigenous people who have experienced discrimination when receiving healthcare services in Ontario. The OHRC also invites family members, caregivers, service providers and other people who have witnessed Indigenous-specific discrimination in healthcare to take part in the survey.

The survey is part of a broader discussion for the OHRC, which also includes focus groups with Indigenous organizations and health professionals across the province.

The experiences people share in this survey will help inform the OHRC in its work with Indigenous partners to provide human rights guidance and education. With its partners, the OHRC intends to develop human rights policy guidance for addressing and preventing longstanding Indigenous-specific discrimination in Ontario’s healthcare system. This guidance will also help First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and urban Indigenous people understand their protections under the Ontario Human Rights Code when accessing healthcare and provide a tool that Indigenous organizations and communities can use to hold healthcare providers accountable.
