Close to half a million dollars in new HRLSC funding, resources, and supports secured through partnerships and outreach
The Human Rights Legal Support Centre is pleased to announce that it has successfully secured a Law Foundation of Ontario responsive grant valued at $250,000. This funding is being supplemented by additional monetary and in-kind contributions from Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO) and York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School, which together will support HRLSC with:
- The launch of a new Mediation Services Pilot Project, in partnership with York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School — supporting the placement of 12 new students to participate in the Anti-Discrimination Intensive Program (ADIP) over the next two years, focused on our mediation and early resolution services.
- The development and launch of a new self-administered online “Guided Pathway” tool in partnership with Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO) that will help guide and support Ontarians in directly completing and filing applications at the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario.
- The creation of an additional Legal Services Representative position to support our renewed strategic focus on early and alternative resolution among other legal support services.
This is an exciting new step and the fruit of our renewed outreach and community engagement efforts to work collaboratively to expand our resource base and better serve our clients. This will also help us to expand services and awareness of legal options for communities across Ontario.
We’re grateful for the continued support and collaboration of our community partners and stakeholders, with special thanks to Community Legal Education Ontario, including Executive Director Jess Reekie, as well as York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School Dean Trevor Farrow, and ADIP Director Bruce Ryder for their support and participation in this exciting new opportunity.
